Jan 14, 2009 - Revised SCHIP Bill Introduced to Congress

The previous version, which was vetoed by President Bush, had the tax cap out at $3.00 per cigar. The new SCHIP bill, H.R. 2, has a 52.4% tax rate per cigar, with a cap of 40 cents.

H.R. 2 is expected to make it's way easily through the House. The Senate is expected to take longer, but is expected to make it through with the tax rate intact.

Following are bill specifics:

*New tax rate effective April 1, 2009*

*Cigarette tax rate increases from $.039 to $1.00 per pack*

*Snuff tax rate will rise from $0.585 per pound to $1.50 per pound*

*Pipe tobacco will increase from $1.0969 per pound to $2.8126 per pound*

*Roll-your-own tobacco tax will increase from $1.0969 per pound to $24.62 per pound*

*Separately sold cigar wrappers are included in the roll-your-own tax to prevent blunting*

Small cigars weighing less than 3 pounds per thousand, will increase over a 5 year period, using the schedule below:

*2009 - 2010: $0.25 per pack*

*2011 - 2012: $0.50 per pack*

*2013 - 2014: $0.75 per pack*

*2015: $1.00 per pack*

Obama ... "The Would Be King"

So, President Obama and his flunkies have taken it upon themselves to go against the will of the American people and basically tell us they know better. The approval last night of this health care bill is a blatant takeover of 1/6th of the U.S. economy and a raiding of hardworking Americans pocketbooks.

Obama, along with Joe Biden, Harry Reid and Nanci Pelosi will be feeling the "wind of change" come this November when the hard working and intelligent people of this country take away there power to do any more harm to this great country.

Who needs external enemies when we have a President pushing a blatant socialist agenda bent on keeping the American people beholding to the government? Shame on you President Obama! There is something going on in this country that will morph even your huge ego and sweep your idea of "change" under the rug.

There is a great battle before us, and the prize is our freedom!
